About Me
Hello and thank you for visiting us at Deep Thought Psychotherapy.

I'm Dexter and I work to support individuals, couples and families of varying ages and backgrounds to manage the sometimes everyday and sometimes extraordinary events, pressures and influences which life so often throws up.
My own life experience has been extremely varied, but has always (although sometimes not obviously) revolved around psychology and the way we manage the world around us. I have worked internationally as a security contractor, explored cave systems around the world as a professional cave diver, have been an active BASE jumper, am a qualified teacher, and have worked as a surveillance specialist for legal and commercial sector businesses both domestically and internationally. More recently, I founded an organisation (the only one of its kind) to support the families of missing young and/or vulnerable individuals, then through an investigative process locate them, and finally actively recover them from trafficking or controlling organisations.

However, regardless of what I was doing, the role psychology played in all these things has never been far away; it is, after all the drive behind our interactions with the world around us and the people we share it with. Today, as a qualified therapist, I feel that it is this underlying breadth and depth of experience of how the world works in reality, rather than the sometimes limited process of academic learning alone, which makes my therapeutic support and intervention effective.
In addition to my qualifications as a therapist, I also have Masters Degrees in Psychology and Psychological Research and have completed my PhD research focussing on identity as a moderator of traumatic recovery. I have also conducted research with independent teams looking into personality and its impact on social interactions, held a research fellowship position at Rampton High Security Hospital; and have scrutinized, developed and implemented the process of exit counselling supporting families and individuals to leave or help loved ones escape controlling or totalitarian organisations and relationships. In addition to this I have experience working with neurodiverse individuals and am a qualified ADOS autism assessor, offering neurodiversity support.

We work pluralistically (utilising various approaches which best suit the issues or individual) and therefore always in a client driven manner.

Anyway, that's enough about me. After all, the therapeutic journey is really all about you!!

Thank you again for visiting Deep Though Psychotherapy.

Keep well.
